Product Review: Mounted Gunfighters by Great Escape Games
Following my previous experience painting Great Escape Games' Gunfighters, I was excited to tackle their Mounted Gunfighters set. This kit offers a seamless blend of quality, versatility, and historical authenticity, making it a standout addition to any Wild West miniature collection.

Enthusiasts can match mounted figures with their unmounted counterparts (which I’ll demonstrate at the end), as the set includes corresponding hats, jackets, and other accessories. Additionally, the inclusion of various stowage pieces for the horses adds a layer of realism and customisation. You can construct 10 mounted figures with this set.
Assembly and Sculpting
Assembly is straightforward, with parts fitting together with ease. While minor gaps and seams are present, they are easily addressed with a small application of liquid green stuff. The sculpting quality is really nice, featuring crisp details and dynamic poses that capture the essence of the Old West. Plenty of options here as you can tell by the photos.
Painting Process
Utilising Vallejo Model Color paints, known for their rich reds and browns that suit the rustic Wild West theme, I approached the painting in two schemes:
5 models: Focused on reds and browns to reflect traditional Western attire.
5 models: Employed greys, drawing inspiration from the film "Tombstone," to capture a grittier aesthetic.
The models' intricate details made the painting process both engaging and rewarding.
Gameplay and Thematic Appeal
These mounted figures not only complement the foot models but also enhance gameplay, especially in scenarios requiring horseback variants. The dynamic poses and extensive customisation options allow for a personalised and immersive gaming experience.
The Mounted Gunfighters can be matched perfectly with the foot models in the gunfighters box set.
